Healthy snacks are requested to promote good nutritional habits. Please note that the entire school is peanut and tree nut free, so please read labels carefully when providing the snack for the class. Bakery items are not acceptable since there is a risk cross-contamination.
All snack items must be store bought (not homemade) and sent to school in their original, unopened packaging.
On your child’s snack day, we ask families to bring in two snacks — one grain item (such as crackers, goldfish or pretzels) and one item from a second food group. Fruits and vegetables should be organic and we prefer organic grain items as well.
Suggested snacks from the second food group (non-grain items) include:
- Fruits – Apples, bananas, strawberries, etc. Please no grapes.
- Yogurt
- Vegetables
- Hummus
- Raisins or other dried fruit
- Cheese cubes or string cheese
- Squeezable applesauce or other fruit puree pouches
- Guacamole
- Pepperoni slices
Please note that Trinity does not relax the snack policy for birthdays. No cupcakes or donut holes are allowed.
If a child has a food allergy, parents must fill out an Emergency Action Plan and provide an Epi-pen. The teachers read all labels to make certain the student is not served a snack that he or she is allergic to.
For allergies other than nut allergies, parents must provide an alternate snack that can be kept on site in the event the communal snack cannot be served to their child. The alternate snack must be labeled with the child’s first and last name, and it will not be shared with other children.
